New guidance for studying and working during coronavirus outbreak
The University of Warsaw is continually monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic. On 7th April, the UW rector issued the new orders on studying and working arrangements at the University of Warsaw. Measures brought in by UW aim to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the UW community.

Coronavirus outbreak – special legal solutions for foreigners
In connection with the current epidemiological situation, on 31 March 2020 came into force an act providing, inter alia, special solutions for foreigners in Poland. The regulations will allow people who want to pursue their current purpose of stay or cannot leave Poland due to the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus to stay legally in the country.
Q&A with Prof. Choińska-Mika
Due to the challenging and exceptional situation, resulted from the COVID-19 outbreak, UW like other institutions in the country, had to change its operation. Education at UW is provided in a different form. Most of UW units introduced remote teaching. Prof. Jolanta Choińska-Mika, our Vice-rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching, hosted today an online meeting, during which she was answering students’ and doctoral candidates’ questions about their education at UW.

Scholarships for students and doctoral candidates
Professor Jolanta Choińska-Mika, UW Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching, issued an announcement on 18th March regarding the submission of applications for scholarships and payment periods during the epidemic threat. The announcement contains information on social scholarships, scholarships for persons with disabilities and grants for students and doctoral candidates, as well as Erasmus scholarships.
Free scanning service in University of Warsaw Library
Due to the extraordinary situation (closing of the University of Warsaw Library) it is possible to order scans from scientific materials (articles and books) from the collection of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) free of charge.
University offices closed from Monday, 16th of March 2020
In relation to the Rector’s statement regulating the functioning of UW, due to the state of epidemic emergency in Poland, from 16th of March 2020 the Welcome Point office will be closed, until further notice.
Most of the University administration, including us, is working remotely. Please contact us via email: welcome@uw.edu.pl.
