Disabilities and psychological counselling

If you encounter health or psychological difficulties, the University of Warsaw will not leave you alone.

The Office for Persons with Disabilities

The Office for Persons with Disabilities at the University of Warsaw provides services for all students with disabilities in formal meaning. Its main aim is to provide all the necessary forms of support to the persons with disabilities. Our services are also dedicated to persons who are chronically ill or temporary disabled and – due to their health conditions – are not able to follow the standard schedule of their studies. What is very important, a formal certificate of disability is not required – the situation is assessed on individual basis.
Moreover, the Office for Persons with Disabilities gives an opportunity for free consultations with a psychiatrist. The character of those meetings is consultative: after recognizing the problem, the specialist advises an optimal form of support or treatment, for example a psychotherapy in external medical center. The meeting can be scheduled in person or by phone.

Please note that the OPD offers consultations with a psychiatrist. The psychologist is available at the Psychological Counselling Centre (read below).

Psychological Counselling Center

The Psychological Counselling Center (Centrum Pomocy Psychologicznej – CPP), opened in March 2018, provides professional counselling services for students and employees of the University of Warsaw. It offers short-term support, diagnosis, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention.

Consultations are individual and are free of charge. Each student is entitled to have three individual meetings in a semester.

Therapists guarantee confidentiality.

The centre is located on the first and second floor at the Faculty of Physics (Pasteura Street 7).

In an emergency situation, you can take an opportunity of a very short consultation without prior registration – walk-in clinic.

In the nearest future, there will be also a possibility to get help via Skype. This kind of help will be dedicated to students and employees of UW who are abroad, in hospitals, or are not able to leave their apartments.

The Psychological Counselling Center provides initial diagnosis on the basis of which you can be reffered for further consultation with psychologist or to a psychiatrist (an appointment to the psychiarist can be made at the Office for Persons with Disabilities).
