2024 in Review: Connecting, Supporting, Celebrating!
This year was all about creating opportunities, celebrating diversity, and fostering collaboration at UW.
- 40+ diverse events like Welcome Days, Cultural Orientation workshops, mindfulness training, tax consultations, Campus and city walks. We also expanded our offerings with workshops on public speaking, career planning, and setting smart goals for growth.
- Cultural HotSpot 2024: This event brought the UW community together to celebrate the diversity of 15 countries and cultures. From trying traditional Turkish coffee to exploring Brazilian comics, it was a day of vibrant traditions and unity.
- NAWA: We continued to work on “Welcome Point – Better Together” financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) within Welcome to Poland programme.
- A new Welcome Point office: We moved to a modern space at Krakowskie Przedmieście 32a, featuring comfortable offices, a lecture hall, a parent-and-child room, and an integration zone. Come and see us in this welcoming new hub for support and collaboration!
- Expanded resources: Building on previous years’ efforts, this year we introduced two new publications: a leaflet for PhD students (view here) and the inspiring film “Boost your talents with UW” (watch here).
- Workshops for administrative staff: We continued to enhance the skills of UW administrative teams with intercultural communication training and workshops on legalisation of stay practices.
- Intercultural activities and Polish courses: From bonding through improvisation to Polish language courses for international staff, our IDUB-funded programs enriched the international experience at UW.
- Pavilion tradition: The Welcome Point Pavilion returned, where experienced students guided and supported newcomers during their first weeks at UW.
As always, we couldn’t have achieved this without the incredible UW community. Your participation, enthusiasm, and support made 2024 a year to remember. Let’s continue to grow, learn, and celebrate together in 2025!
