Decoding academic culture at UW – workshop for employees

Get to know the essentials of UW academic culture and develop skills in diverse communication and collaboration styles. Welcome Point workshop for new UW international staff coming up on 28 November!

When and where?

Date: November 28th, 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm (coffee break included)

Place: the Old Library Building, Main Campus UW, 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście St.

Trainer: Aleksandra Winiarska, PhD, Institute of Applied Social Sciences

What you can expect?

During the workshop we will:

  • decode some important values, norms and artifacts at UW
  • explore differences and similarities in academic cultures (communication, collaboration, and more)
  • find out what to expect in our everyday work at UW
  • discuss the potential challenges to adaptation
  • develop some solutions and good practices

For whom?

This workshop is for international employees, especially researchers, who have recently joined the University of Warsaw.

An employee is understood as a person hired on the basis of employment contracts. In order to attend the workshop administrative and service workers are asked to send a signed permission from their immediate supervisor to welcome.event@uw.edu.pl
