Summary of Welcome Month 2025!

Highlights of Welcome Month at the University of Warsaw

Opening of the Welcome Point Pavilion

On 22 September, we opened the Welcome Point Pavilion on the Main Campus. In its first weeks, we collected your questions and concerns to improve information flow and better support academic-life matters.
We are proud to have assisted several hundred visits throughout the month.

Welcome Days – over 300 newcoming international students

Our Welcome Days brought together nearly 300 international students from all over the world! Participants learned how the University of Warsaw functions and explored UW’s offers, services, and activities. During the event, our team introduced Warsaw and the University, and students had the chance to meet:

  • dr hab. Maciej Raś, prof. ucz., Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching,
  • Maksymilian Sas, Coordinator of the Centre for Teaching and Learning,
  • representatives of the Students’ Welfare and Support Office, Polonicum – Centre of Polish Language and Culture, the Volunteer Centre, the Psychological Support Centre, and the University Sports Centre.

Current UW students also shared their own “life hacks,” and the Students’ Union presented the ways in which they support the student community.

After these information-packed sessions, participants joined guided campus tours — a perfect opportunity to get to know their new second home, discover the history of UW’s Main Campus, and pick up useful navigation tips for everyday university life.

Campus Walks – history and culture of UW

In cooperation with the University of Warsaw Museum — and with a little help from the warm October weather — we organised five Campus Walks. Participants explored UW’s history, cultural background, Warsaw’s heritage, and all the fascinating (and sometimes surprising!) stories hidden around the Main Campus.

Library Navigation Trainings – a look behind the scenes

They gave students a unique opportunity to see rare books and manuscripts at the University of Warsaw Library (BUW). Participants also learned how to navigate the library system, book renting procedures, and discovered the impressive collection of over 5.5 million items.

Onboarding Workshops – understanding Poland and UW

This year, we had two important onboaring workshops:

  • Navigating Polish Culture – an introduction to Polish culture, everyday life, do’s and don’ts, and essential language basics (not a tourist guide!).
  • Smooth Start at UW – focused on the emotional and practical challenges of studying or working abroad, helping participants adapt and feel more confident in a new academic setting.
Both workshops were financed by the NAWA Programme.

After the Pavilion closure…

The Pavilion closed on October 17, but our work continues! The Welcome Point team is still operating at full speed to provide information support and prepare new events for our international community <3
