Recruitment schedule for Doctoral Schools 2023/2024

 

Doctoral Schools have already announced their recruitment schedule for the academic year 2023/2024. There are 330 places waiting for future PhD students in 24 scientific disciplines. There are four doctoral schools operating at the University of Warsaw: the Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. Each doctoral candidate in doctoral schools is obliged to follow their Individual Research Plan (after first year). They carry out research in an individual unit their supervisor is employed in. Doctoral candidates’ progress and supervisors’ work are subject to mid-term evaluation. All UW doctoral schools offer full educational programs in the English language. All doctoral candidates receive a monthly scholarship.

Application process

At the beginning of admissions to a doctoral school of the University of Warsaw a candidate should find a supervisor who will be ready to take care of them and their research project. The supervisor’s name and their declaration of readiness to take up the function should be submitted in the Internet Recruitment of Candidates system – IRK. 

Looking for a supervisor, one can use a special browser that contains a list of academics who want to act as supervisors.

Online Doctoral Schools’ Open Day:

On 18th March, the UW Doctoral Schools Open Day was held. The video coverage of the event is available on the website of Doctoral Schools.

It also contains information about the University of Warsaw’s offer for doctoral candidates, including social support, research funding, mobility opportunities.

Scholarship to Start:

The Scholarship to Start funded by the University of Warsaw is addressed to first year doctoral candidates at a doctoral school, who have achieved in the admissions procedure a point score that is in the top 20% of the results in a given discipline or within the educational program at a given doctoral school.
