Due to the limited functioning of the University of Warsaw during the coronavirus pandemic, the Rector of the University of Warsaw issued a decision on changing the organization of the ongoing academic year. It applies in particular to teaching classes in the summer semester and the summer examination session.
In relation to the extraordinary circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, classes for students, doctoral candidates and other participants at the University of Warsaw were moved to remote mode. Due to the fact that not all programs will be able to be implemented in this mode (e.g. laboratory classes), the academic calendar 2019/2020 has been amended.
On 5th May 2020, in connection with Order No. 50 of 10th March 2020 (as amended), the Rector of the University of Warsaw issued decision No. 10 on the organization of the academic year 2019/2020 at the University of Warsaw. It concerns the amendment of the academic calendar in the part dedicated to the summer semester.
Resolution No. 10 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw of 5th May 2020 contains information about:
- postponing the deadline for finishing classes from 10th June to 2nd August 2020. It applies only to those classes that the programme cannot be completed earlier;
- postponing the date of the end of the summer examination session from 5th July to 23rd August 2020 and organizing it in three blocks:
block I: 15th June – 5th July 2020,
block II: 13th July – 2nd August 2020,
block III: 3rd August – 23rd August 2020.
If the programme is completed earlier than 2nd August, then course credit award or exam may already be held, e.g. in the first block of sessions. The decision on this matter is taken by the head of the educational unit (after recognizing the situation in the given field of study). Information on the block in which the summer session will be organized will appear on the educational unit’s website by 31st May 2020;
- organization of foreign language exams from 15th June to 2nd August 2020. A detailed schedule of foreign language exams will be announced by 25th May 2020 by the Coordination Council for Language Proficiency Certification;
- organization of resit tests in foreign languages from 31st August to 13th September 2020;
- dates of holiday blocks.
