Due to coming May holidays, so called “majówka”, between 1st and 3rd May the University of Warsaw and all its offices and faculties will be closed.
There will be no classes, also!
Please bear in mind that the 1st and 3rd of May are bank holidays in Poland meaning most institutions and shops will be closed (as they do on most Sundays).
It is recommended to do the shopping in advance.
- 1st May (Wednesday): The Labour Day (bank holiday in Poland)
- 2nd May (Thursday): The Flag Day (not a bank holiday, but some institutions may work in a shortened period of time)
- 3rd May (Friday): The Constitution of May, 3rd (bank holiday)
The weather forecast says it will be warm and sunny so it’s a perfect time to join outdoor events:
- 1st May: European Festival on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street – concerts and theatrical plays on the 20th anniversary of Poland joining the EU>>> learn about it here
- 1st – 4th May: Multimedia Fountain Park – evening shows of water, light and music near The Warsaw Old Town >>> find out more here
- 1st – 8th May: Royal Łazienki Museum and Gardens – picnic, tours, concert (free of charge); ticketed walks and workshops >>> Łazienki Museum website (in Polish)
- 3rd May: central celebrations of the Constitution Day on The Castle Square (PL: Plac Zamkowy) and Piłsudski Square (Plac Piłsudskiego)
- from 1st May: new season of Warsaw tourist transportation lines begins – travel by historic buses, ferries and boats!
We’re wishing you a great May weekend!
