Studying at the University of Warsaw – video with the Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching

In the video, prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw for Students and Quality of Teaching, raised current issues concerning, inter alia, forms of teaching or activities that students may engage in despite the pandemic. The Vice-Rector also announced the November online meeting aimed mainly at this group of the academic community.

In the video, prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching, referred to the current epidemic situation as well as the sanitary regime and restrictions resulting from the inclusion of the entire country in the red zone. Their result is, among others, providing education in the extramural mode.

– According to the Rector’s request, all distance classes must be conducted in the form of video. I hope that the level of these classes will be high. I am counting on your active participation. Let’s do everything to make these classes – despite the remote form – a certain form of normality for you and the teachers if we are considering classes communication  – emphasized prof. Żółtek.

The exceptions are practical activities that can be stationary. Decisions about conducting them are made by the heads of educational units. More information is available in the article “Changes in the functioning of the University of Warsaw during a pandemic”.

Not only classes

The Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw also drew attention to other aspects of studying. – The University of Warsaw is not only about classes. Studying is a wide process and by studying you should understand all activities at the University of Warsaw – said prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw. – The University of Warsaw, despite the fact that we are in the red zone, is not lifeless. Many things happen here all the time. I would like to encourage you to take part in these things – he added.

The Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching listed various activities in which students can engage. Among them are:

Support at the University of Warsaw

– Pandemic is a difficult time and not everyone is coping well with it, so we want to help you. Remember that there is The Psychological Counselling Centre at the University. If you feel discomfort related to the current situation or problems you have at the University, contact this centre – it is for you – explained Vice-Rector Żółtek.

The Psychological Counselling Centre at the University of Warsaw  is the psychological first aid point for the University community. During the coronavirus epidemic, this unit provides free online consultations for students and university employees. From November, therapeutic groups for students of the University of Warsaw will start there. More information is available on the Centre’s website.

At the University of Warsaw there is also an Ombudsman, i.e. an academic spokesman – Dr. Anna Cybulko and the main specialist for equality – Dr. hab. Julia Kubisa. You can read about their activities here.

In the recording, prof. Sławomir Żółtek has invited all students to a live meeting on 6th November. Details will be announced soon.
